It’s always Autumn in England

Life, Family27 February 2008 7:48 am

Last night I woke up around 1am to an earthquake going on. At first I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming, so after the shaking had stopped for a minute or so I asked Evan if he was awake and he said yes. Then I asked, ‘Did you feel that?’ and again he said ‘yes’, followed by, ’was that an earthquake?’ I replied with, I think so. LOL We both were laying there wondering if we had dreamed it or not. As soon as we got up this morning, we got online to find out about it. Here is the best I could find so far this morning.

Then I told him there had been an earthquake in/around 1989 in England, that was the only other one I can remember.

Within minutes I was back asleep, but I thought that people in America might be worried about us, so this way my family can reassure them that we are absolutely fine!

I thought this one was fun!!

You are 3:15 p.m.

You are the moment when the last bell rings and school lets out for the day. You are resistant to schedules and obligations, so you love feeling like you’re in control of your life again. You are the very moment when the second hand hits the 12, and the halls fill with noise and motion. Even if your after-school time is packed with activities, lessons, or a job, somehow, you just feel freer in the late afternoon than you do earlier in the day. Maybe it’s all that blue sky and afternoon sunshine? Nah — even on rainy days, 3:15 is always a beautiful time.

On my way to work this morning, I drove up the hill that goes out of our village and when I looked down on the valley in front of me, it was a sea of fog. It was AMAZING. Really. I have never thought of fog as beautiful, but I stopped at the T-Junction in front of me and just gazed at the scene before me. I wished I had my camera. I did try to take a picture with my mobile phone, but it doesn’t have the settings that my camera has and the sun was shining too brightly to capture on my phone.

Anyway, what should have been a valley in front of me, was instead a sea of fluffy, whiteness. I could just see a couple of tree tops sticking out above the fog. With it being the end of winter the trees were completely bare, so it looked liked branches sticking out of the top of foam. It really was a breathtaking scene.

Often times, I see a stunning view of the mountains around our house, or look out over the reservoirs around our village and am amazed at the beauty that surrounds us and I am reminded how much God must love beauty, because he created all of this.

I realised that I don’t automatically think of fog as beautiful, like I would when I think of a rainbow, or mountains, but there was something about the fog this morning, that just reminded me to stop and thank God for his creation. For the fog that this morning was absolutely stunning.

Then tonight when I was telling a friend about it, I realised that that is what having a relationship with God is all about. That when I see something I enjoy, I need to stop and praise God and give him all the glory for what he has created. After all…it is his creation and I think he must enjoy the beauty as well.

I have changed the ‘theme’ for my blog. I don’t like this one as well as the old one, but I was ready for a change and this is the next best one I could find. Evan says he is going to look at the coding and see if he can design me one. We just don’t know how to upload it, but he just needs to look at it. In the meantime, this one will have to do.

Not much going on this weekend, which has been nice. I started in my new role this week at work and I have enjoyed it immensly. I have volunteered myself for a couple of big projects, which should be fun. It means I get to work closely with Nashville on stuff and I always enjoy getting to phone and speak to someone in my ‘native tongue’ of the Southern accent!! LOL

I found this on this website from my friend Suzi’s blog. This is SO ME. I had to add it and share with you all!
If you ever get the chance to read the book, ‘Strength Finder’ and look up Input, it says that someone with the strength Input thinks that the W.W.W. is the best invention ever. I have to agree (and I do have Input). I could literally spend hours and hours on the internet and come away not really knowing what all I spent my time doing!

Life, Work 12:01 pm

I try not to talk about work too often on my blog, mostly because just about everything I do is restricted by confidentiality, however, today I have something on my mind that I know some of you may be able to give me some insight on.

In Group counselling, the girls work through the book ‘Boundaries’ by Cloud and Townsend. If you have ever read this, you will know that it is a great resource and something that EVERYONE can use. This is what I will be teaching/leading every week. I am looking for resources that will go alongside working through just the book and workbook. If any of you happen to come across something you think I would find useful, let me know. Maybe a quiz I can give the girls for fun, or diagrams/pictures that illustrate a certain topic. Let me know.

This Friday I am going to set down some guidelines and expectations for the group and do a Team Building exercise, ready to get going in two weeks time.

It is always so good to come home after working a weekend. I had almost forgotton the feeling. But I am finally home having worked from Fri 8:30am - Mon 5pm.

I found out at work that they want me to take over Group Counseling once a week. I am looking forward to that!
