It’s always Autumn in England

Thursday

Well, it is Thursday afternoon here in America…and it has been an interesting day so far.

We were meant to meet Angela and Graham at 9:30 this morning but at 11am they still had not arrived. They finally got there, with my uncle driving them and we found out their car had broken down on the interstate.

Then we hit up Chucky-Cheese.

Angela and I left from there to meet Amy at a Nail Bar to get a Pedicure and Manicure. It was lovely…but it took us 20 minutes longer to get there than we thought, so she had already started hers. Angela and I ended up getting our eyebrows waxed as well.

Graham, Mom and Evan looked after the kids all afternoon.

And now we are about to eat dinner. I don’t know who will read my blog while I am away, since most of the people who read it are here with me, but if your reading, I hope you enjoy hearing about our adventures over the next couple weeks!

By the way, my nails (hands and feet) look GREAT!

Cats

Filed under: Life, My Travels, Family

Well Abigail seems to be doing better. I said good night to her on the phone tonight and she sounded tired, but at least she is at home. The doc’s have put her on Carbamazepine to try to stop/prevent any more seizures. I am still praying for a complete healing for her…she has been diagnosed with Epilepsy, but there are lots of variations with the diagnosis. The doc’s are suggesting over-tiredness is a trigger for Abigail. I think that no one has told them Abigail is very energetic and has never liked to sleep too much at one time!  LOL

On some good news, our neighbours are fantastic and she has agreed to look after the cats for us while we are away. I have told them we want to have them over for dinner when we get back. We talked over the fence for a good half an hour tonight and it was good to find out a little bit about each other and what we and our partners do for a living. She is a really sweet lady…and she loves to talk! Her daughter loves the cats, so hopefully she can come round and play with them for a bit while we are away!

Prayer Needed

Abigail has been taken to hospital again because she had another seizure. Very similar to last time (see posts from 15th March) she was taking a nap and started coughing and Angela and Graham recognised the signs of her having a seizure and called an ambulance straight away.

I was at work at the time and got a call on my mobile, so I got all the staff to pray…there were lots of people around, because we had just finished having graduation for one of our residents.

Angela is staying at hospital with Abigail and Graham is going home with Jacob for the night.

Abigail had to have lots of medication to get the seizure under control and she is still asleep at the moment. The nurses remembered her and were surprised to see her back because they did not find any cause last time and thought it should not happen again.

Anyway, please be praying, Angela and Graham will be asking the doctors about whether they can travel to America next week for our Dad’s wedding. It would be the first time in over 3 years that Angela, me and our two brothers would all be together and we are all really looking forward to it. Plus, if they can’t fly they miss dad’s wedding and I know they want to be there for that.

Today

I had my review at work today, or my "90 Day Evaluation" as we call it. I hate the paperwork questionaire thingy they make you fill out for them.  I told them that at the very beginning and they laughed at me (good naturedly of course). But really, who wants to say how many mistakes they make, or if they always arrive on time. I usually arrive right on the button of the time I am supposed to get there. But the last couple weeks I have been 5 minutes late a couple of days…but I don’t want to POINT IT OUT because they don’t seem to notice in the morning.  LOL

Anyway, it went really well and the two things they mentioned were the things they counted on the most were my consistency and my flexibility. I guess those are pretty good characteristics to have. Being flexible is about the most important things in my job, because each day, I just never know what I am going to be doing.

Anyway, I have some work to be getting on with, but I am procrastinating by being on here reading my friends blogs and then linking to their friends blogs through the comments sections. I love doing that!

I haven’t added any pics in a while, so I thought I would throw one or two in. You can see Evan’s blog for more pictures

This is from Ingleton Waterfalls. Evan and I hiked there a couple weekends ago. I just love the beauty of the landscape surrounding us everyday!

Weekend

I am working this weekend- for my one a month. Not much going on really, just starting to make plans for our trip to America and sorting out a little bit of an itinerary. We leave in just over 2 weeks. I can’t believe it is that soon.

Best get going, I need to leave for work very soon, and I haven’t even started packing my bag yet and I can’t be late because I am getting a bus to work today so that Evan can have the car for the weekend.

Camping

Camping last weekend was great fun. I was late leaving work, so we almost had to set up in the dark. Luckily, we got the tent up before it was dark and only had to cook dinner using our lantern.

We went to Mount Grace Priory and Fountains Abbey. The Priory was interesting, but Fountains Abbey was great. If anyone comes to visit, we will probably take you there. It was BEAUTIFUL! Lots of lakes and streams to walk around and the ruins were cool, it was a huge abbey. There was also a lovely cafe, a great children’s playground, big gift shop and about 3-4 miles of walking you can do. I would post some pictures, but guess what Evan and I forgot to take with us….our camera :(   So I guess we will just have to go back…someone come visit soon!!

Last night I had the weirdest nights sleep. I woke at about 3:30am and felt a bit odd. I was hot, but other than that I didn’t notice anything at first. Then I turn my head to the side and went really dizzy and then suddenly sick to my stomach. At first I thought I was dreaming, so I told myself to wake up. Then I turned my head again, and it happened again. After like the 4th or 5th time of doing this and trying to fall asleep, it freaked me out and I woke Evan up. He offered to get my something to drink and eat to see if it would help. But then I felt really sick and had to go to the bathroom. I didn’t get sick, so I went back to bed and the dizzyness happened several more times. I noticed that I had a slight headache, and so I thought it might be a migraine causing all these weird things. I took a migraine tablet and didn’t move. Eventually I fell asleep around 4am and woke up at 8, like nothing even happened. Strange, I have never had anthing like that happen before in the middle of the night.

Just carrying on

Not much time to post, but just wanted to say that life is continuing on. Working 4 days a week, plus cleaning and 1 weekend a month, keep me busy. I get up at 6:30am to drop Evan off at work and I get home from work just before 6pm, so I am generally exhausted by the time I get home.

We might go hiking this weekend if the weather is good.
