It’s always Autumn in England

Last night we met up with friends from church at a great pub called The White Hart.  It was good to have a night out with people before moving.

Tonight I have organised a surprise baby shower for a friend.

Tomorrow we pick up the moving van and friends come over in the evening to help load the big things.

Friday morning we finish packing the van and drive up to the new house.

Saturday we return the van to Northampton.

at the moment my life consists of sorting, packing and cleaning.

Today I packed about half the kitchen. The box is only about half full…but I can’t decide what else we won’t need in the next week.

I also sorted out the gas and electricity at the new house, wrote some emails, did laundry, watched 2 episodes of Cold Feet, and sat in bed and read for 30 minutes this morning.

I am reading a great book by Sebastian Faulks called Human Traces.

Friday I am not going to the Mercy House. Instead we are taking the girls to Kent to a Youth conference put on by a supporting church. I am meeting them down there since it is much closer for me to drive to Kent than up to Bradford. Plus, I get to come home Sunday night instead of Monday morning!

I completed my last shift at St Andrews on Saturday.  I was there all day.  Sunday I spent the day sleeping mostly…I think my body was trying to recover from all the extra hours I have been doing, plus having shingles.

It is 6:30am and I just got back from dropping Evan off at the airport.  We left at 3:30.  He is in Sweden all week.

I am going to go back to bed now for about an hour.  I have to go to the last section of the course I have been doing for the last 5 months.  I was going to hand it all in today, but I realised today, that I did not get the last section back from my mentor before leaving work on Saturday. That means I will have to go and see her at St Andrews to pick it up and then post it to my Assessor this week. But then I will be done and I will have a Certificate in Working with Learning Disabilities!

I spent a long time today sorting out our phone and Broad Band at the new house.  Unfortunately, we may be without a phone for over a week, and no email/internet for a good couple weeks after we move.  We might even be without broadband until we get back from America at the end of November.

I have made some nice Change of Details cards, but I am not going to post all of that information for anyone and their brother to read.  If you want my details you can email me and I will send them to you…if I haven’t already!

It has been a week and for that I apologise. This is the first day off I have had in the last week.  I was at Mercy last weekend and then worked two Long Days on Heygate.

Evan and I are busy packing. Our house is beginning to look bare, but very messy from all the boxes stacking up in the conservatory and the spare room. The problem is, I HATE packing…but I have moved A LOT so I tend to think in a certain way when it comes to packing boxes and getting things ready.  Evan and I think VERY DIFFERENTLY when it comes to packing…I want it a lot more orderly, but Evan just fills the boxes.  He has packed quite a few while I was gone on the weekend, and for that I am very greateful, I am just afraid of what will be in them when I unpack and have one item from every room in the house.  Oh well, at least I can concentrate on what I am good at, and that is organising all the changes of address that need to be done…which seems to take a lot of time.

PS. Thanks for getting a blog Alley!

I arrived at my friend John & Cathy’s house tonight and saw this box sitting on the table

John and Cathy gave this to me for my present…it was John’s idea and here is what is inside…

I have 8 Locus for my birthday!

The cats are already wathing them and waiting for the perfect opportunity to play with them!

All week, I have felt like it was a day later than it actually is. So today I was convinced I was driving up to Mercy tomorrow. Good thing Evan told me I wasn’t, or I actually might have packed tonight, dropped him off at work and driven up North!!

In other news, I got the tyres on our car changed today. They were really bad. Thankfully the men at Hi-Q, now called Truck something-or-other were really nice to a woman who knows next to nothing about her car.

I have spent the last 3 days on the phone making sure that everyone connected to us has our new address. I spent 40 long minutes with NTL (but thankfully got it sorted) and 25 minutes on hold with BT before finally hanging up.

We had a nice dinner with Christian and Anja last night at The Navigation pub, though I think the staff were glad to see us leave after 3 hours…I think we were the last customers to go!

I think that is it now…
