This is a map of Bradford and the surrounding area. Leeds is just to the East of Bradford and you can see Oxenhope on the map to the West of Bradford. It is a really pretty area, lots of small villages and hills surrounding the Mercy Home. I am going up on Thursday for a day of training, so I am hoping to have more information about the job at that point. My boss, Pete was back at work yesterday, so he will have found out that I am going to be going part time, and when I am work tomorrow, I will speak to him about what dates I can have off etc. People keep asking me for more information, but at this point I am playing the waiting game…

Grete, the Mercy House is in Oxenhope, near Bradford…Leeds is the nearest city to the Mercy House on this map. You can take the M1 North from Northampton all the way up to Bradford and the Mercy house is about 15 miles west of Leeds. This area of England is West Yorkshire.

Evan spoke to his boss, Richard yesterday and Richard wants Evan to continue working for ECM and is happy for him to work from home in Yorkshire. This means that the next step is for me to phone Mercy and let them know that I can work for them.
It will take a couple weeks to arrange schedules and trips up there to sort out housing etc. I am not sure how I can arrange my schedule at St Andrews to be part time, so I also need to sort that out with work.
Keep praying. Things are moving in the right direction, but there are still many steps ahead of us!
I had my interview at Mercy yesterday and it went really well. The interview lasted for nearly 2 hours, and Arianna and Debbie, the two ladies interviewing me, told me they wanted me to work for Mercy. The remainder of the interview went quickly and much of that was spent discussing where and how I could fit into the team of staff at Mercy.
They have two vacancies open at the moment for Supporter Roles, which are both night positions. One is from 4:30pm - 8:30am Mon-Thurs and the other is 4:30pm on Friday - 8:30am on Monday. They really want these to start in Sept, but that does not give me time to work my 4 week notice period, or find a house in Yorkshire, or Evan a job….
We talked about several options of me working every other weekend, until such a time as we could move to Yorkshire or about doing two different roles within Mercy to be able to work full time. They really want and need to hire a counselor to work with the girls (who move in in Sept) and would like me in that role, but the funding for that role is not yet in place.
At this point, the ball is in my court to make a decision and let them know. Evan is going to talk to his boss on Monday about options for him…either needing to find a new job, or possibly working for ECM from home.
At this point, the two things you could pray for are:
Evan in his job and whether he can continue to work at ECM
for funding for a Councelor to come in at Mercy, so that I could have that job, and not need to work part time in two jobs.
It feels like I have just disapeared for a while, so let me catch you up really quickly.
On the 1st & 2nd Evan and I went to the Lake District and camped for one night. Evan was visiting the Keswick Conference, so we decided to camp up there.
Then I worked a few days, then on the 5th we went to a wedding in Studley (where I used to live).
I was on a course on the 8th and then I worked some more.
Yesterday Evan and I drove down to Detling, in Kent, where Evan is spending the week at the Detling Conference and he is exibiting during the day. He is camping all week. I spent the night and literally walked in the door about 45 minutes ago.
I am working Mon & Tues, going for my interview in Yorkshire on Weds, driving back down to Kent on Thursday and picking Evan up and then coming home so that I can work Friday morning, through Monday night!
What fun times!
A couple of weeks ago I sent off a CV (Resume) and letter to Mercy Ministries. I had not heard of any positions that were available, but I thought that if this job is what I really want, I needed to do something about it.
Today I had a phone call asking me to come for an interview on 16th August.
WOW!
I am not sure exactly what this interview will entail, or where it will take me, but please say a prayer if you get the chance. It would mean a move 3 hours north of here, Evan would have to get a new job, we would have to find a house (that allows cats) and we would have to start all over again with everything else, since we know absolutely NO ONE in West Yorkshire.
Evan has found out that there is lots of Sports Climbing in Yorkshire, and so he in convinced that this is the job I should be in and that we should move there tomorrow. I want to get some more info and make a decision based on jobs, money, housing etc.
I will keep you updated!
